"The Raft" creature = an extraterrestrial organism? (UFO can be seen?)

At the end of the story, when the last girl is being killed and the guy looks back at the car, you can see something in the sky, something white that's moving at a constant speed. Doesn't resemble a cloud, though, and the rest of the sky is clear. In the bottom-left corner of the "object," it looks like it's reflecting sunlight, as if it's metallic. Perhaps a UFO? Maybe the "blob" is an extraterrestrial organism?

I wonder if that as meant to be there or not. The one thing I was kinda 'bummed' about was not knowing where the 'blob' came from. Out of all 3 stories "The Raft" was my favorite one.

I don't think it was intended to be extraterrestrial. I think rather it's a primitive, primordial organism, dredged up from the depths.
