I was a teenager when i first watched this movie back in 1994, i loved it and always thought how cool it would be to pop one of those cherries, i was dissapointed back then when sam flew away with E. Johnson, i remember thinking he was a fool cuz cherry was a lot cuter. I finally got myself a copy and rewatched it last nite, oh boy was i wrong, E is so frigging cute and i just love that scene when they are in that cave trying to fall asleep, and the guy is staring at E's naked back, and then she turns, he smiles and then "oh my god" i fell in love with that smile she gave him and i wished i was in his skin, and oh, how i would love that girl, i would go all the way down for that smile. Watching this movie again made me realize how stupid i was 14 years ago, i couldn't even understand how it is that i found cherry to be pretier that E.
anyways, love the film and the E's voice is engraved in my mind now, she sounds so cute i would buy a cd of her singing, even if she sucked at it.

lol...... Well kid welcome to adulthood, it's a good thing you now prefer a human over a robot...Hehe, but that cherry was a cute little thing. Pamela Gidley who portrayed cherry did some tv and b-movies after this film, but never really hit the big time....The same goes for Melanie Griffth who plays "E".
<<Pamela Gidley who portrayed cherry did some tv and b-movies after this film, but never really hit the big time....The same goes for Melanie Griffth who plays "E">>
Oh, that's not true. No one knows Pamela Gidley's name. She's never in the tabloids, never on those cable entertainment news shows, no one knows her husband, and she's never been nominated for an Oscar.
Melanie Griffith, on the other hand, has been nominated for an Oscar. She is always in the tabloids, always on those cable entertainment news shows, and makes a ton of money. She's married to Antonio Banderas. They are always at awards shows. She's been on Broadway. Are her movies always A-list fantastic events? No. But she is a star. Pamela Gidley is not.
I don't know WHY that is -- it just is. Pamela Gidley was very pretty and had a small career -- but her bank account and fame can't compare to Melanie Griffith's.
Melanie Griffith, on the other hand, has been nominated for an Oscar. She is always in the tabloids, always on those cable entertainment news shows, and makes a ton of money. She's married to Antonio Banderas.
Melanie Griffith is yesterdays news, old hat if you will....Yes she was nominated for an oscar for her work in 'Working Girl' in 1988 a short time after 'Cherry 2000', but the rest of her work in film consisted of B-movies and some quest appearances on tv shows. I doubt very seriously, that she makes tons of money....and appearing in tabloids, and tv enetrtainment shows as well as being married to A.Banderas doesn't make her a star...familiar perhaps, but not a big star.

You, jimmymack7, originally wrote: <<Pamela Gidley who portrayed cherry did some tv and b-movies after this film, but never really hit the big time....The same goes for Melanie Griffth who plays "E">>
That is jut incorrect. It is true that Pamela Gidley did some tv and some b-movies after this film, but never really hit the big time. However, Melanie Griffith DID hit the big time. A quick look at their imdb pages will show you that. No one knows where Pamela Gidley is now -- if you asked a stranger on the street who she was, or showed him a picture, he wouldn't know. However, if you asked most adults who Melanie Griffith was, or showed a picture, they would know.
Just a glance at those will show you that Melanie has had a much more extensive career and has made much more money. She also has many more comments that Pamela Gidley.
I am just saying that your equating the two is incorrect. They have had totally different careers -- one reached stardom, the other didn't. One is still a star, the other is completely unknown except to fans of this movie.
Really -- take a look at their pages. Look at the people Melanie Griffith has worked with -- Paul Newman, Woody Allen, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, etc. Look at how much she has done, how much has centered around her.
Look, I am NOT saying Melanie Griffith is the world's best actress or biggest star. All I am saying is that your equating her and her career with Pamela Gidley and hers is inaccurate. You can disagree with me, but I think the proof is in the pudding -- and in the imdb pages.
I am just saying that your equating the two is incorrect. They have had totally different careers
I agree with you that Melanie's career went much better than Pam's, and equating the two is probably wrong on my part......but I stand firm on my belief that both actress's never went on to produce any quality of work that was memorable.

Did you ever see Another Day in Paradise? It's a very good film -- very good -- and Melanie Griffith is in it. Anyway, she's done some respectable work, some dumb stuff, and a couple of very good things -- like Another Day in Paradise.
Yes I did......I thought James Woods gave a convincing performance of a strung out junkie, but Melanies seemed some what staged....entertaining movie if you like that type of film....... lol....she's done more dumb stuff than respectable, just check her IMDB page out, and you'll see what I mean.... Did you know Melanie is the daughter of Tippy Hendron the actress who played in The Birds, the 1963 Alfred Hitchcock movie, one of my favorites.
Yes, I did know that Melanie Griffith was Tippi Hedren's daughter -- Hollywood royalty. I guess I liked her more than you did in Another Day in Paradise. I guess I just like movies where she's shooting guns!
Yes, yes I did. I have a THING for Melanie Griffith -- I don't know what it is. She's not my type, but she just intrigues me. I like her voice, too. It's an interesting film. I like those Mad Max future dystopia things.
Yeah, you were too stupid to love that robot like that, E. Johnson is better in her looking and her voice is so nice.
I love Cherry 2000 very very much. Sometimes when I feel sad, I watch this movie again, it gives me a outlandish feeling, some sort of exoticism.
I guess like the feeling of 80s, this is a classical 80s movie, I love it! In this movie, they used lots of concept of basis of a movie, you can learn many movie concept if you are a young director trying to make a film.
Yes, Melanie Griffith is really beautiful and her voice, I just can't get away from her face and her nice voice.
