Roeg's most pleasing psychological movie (spoilers)

I know most people who have no idea who Roeg was or don't understand what a character piece is, think this is just a poor excuse for oogling. First, take a course in basic social psychology. Second, watch the movie again and focus on dialog and character behavior. Third, apologize on this board. :)

Anyway, as far as Roeg's movies go, I'd say this one is his most satisfying movie when it comes to character's psychology. Roeg's characters are always slightly off and he focuses on this as their main character trait and that just bogs the movie down. Here, the characters behave almost normally, and he lets them have a true character arc. Amanda's arc ("Who am I") is more interesting than Reed's (I'm a mechanic), but it's also less developed. That might be the biggest flaw of the movie and the main reason why so many people don't see that the movie has a point. Her change is not explored fully due to the open ended nature of the flick (and life I guess) and we are left guessing what will her life become now. We'll she resocialize fully or will she go back now that she had felt true freedom.
