The sub-plot with Janice is pretty silly; at least she's eye candy. (Hassan was right; she DOES have nice legs.) Also, we get to see Dux pull the dime trick.
The sub-plot with Helmer and Rawlins is even sillier. Norman Burton goes out of his way to make Forest Whitaker look stupid --- what is the point of that?

she's better looking when she got older then when she was in this film. i don't think she was a good reporter either. hell she made it so obvious that she was talking into a recorder while sitting front row during the fights. how did no one see her and kick her out? plus what's wrong with being a fighter? if someone is good at it, and they love it, then why is it bad compared to being a reporter. reporters are liars, and always sticking their nose where it doesn't belong, and obscuring the truth.

I'm a woman and I would have went to see this movie, even with out Janice as a love interest. I admit, I first saw this movie when I was a kid and I wanted to confirm a rumor that someone's chin bone pops out of their leg.
sharei found it funny that she had to get the recorder out after the guy got his shin-bone kicked out.. i mean what? she wasn't going to remember that without recording it? Pretty sure seeing something like that is going to stick in your mind for at least a day or two

When she almost destroyed Frank's chance of being the first westerner to when the Kumite by informing the inspector where the fight was (he already knew but once someone reported it he could no longer look the other way) I thought to myself that feminine logic and priorities are completely alien to the masculine thought process and that is why there are separation of the genders. There can NEVER be a gender neutral society , EVER!

Of course she changed her tune about the Kumite. It got personal. At first, it was just a story. Then she got involved with Dux, and saw how dangerous and violent the kumite could be. Obviously she didn't want Dux to get hurt after she saw what happened to Jackson.

We should have atleast got to see a glimpse of that ass and beaver of hers. Instead we got to see Van Damme's behind. Eh, nothing wrong with that but if you have a token female in the movie atleast show us the goods.

The reason JCVD almost lost was he had his mind on the goods- not the fight. She should have promised him sex if he won. He was drained before the fight. he needed the rage and anger- not a relaxed, mellow state of mind.
