Throughout the tournament you notice fighters wore yellow belts and red belts. Nobody with the same colors fought eachother.
Dux and Paco had yellow belts while Chuan Ip and Chong Li wore red belts.
Therefore, the semi finals should have been Dux vs Ip and Paco vs Chong Li OR Dux vs Chong Li and Paco vs Ip.
any chance that the belt color had a different meaning than who fights who and that it was just a COINCIDENCE? I know if you flip a coin a bunch of times you sometimes get several heads or tails in a row, it could have been a statistical fluke.
My guess is that is how you know who to root for, like when boxing is on tv and one fighter is in the red trunks and the other in green trunks or something.
Then shouldn't they have had different color belts in different fights? I think the colors were betting methods but it just seems like a mistake on the filmmakers part.
I think when it came down to final 4, Paco looks too aggressive and felt he's a better opponent for Dux. Chuan Ip looked too friendly so he was to get killed by Chong Li.
I always observed that the guys in yellow were thr "good guys" and the guys in red were the "bad guys". Maybe the 2 fighters who lost in the semi finals switched sides.
The belts are interchangeable like the red and blue ankle straps in wrestling. Probably for betting
sharePerhaps it was another nod to Karate Champ lol - point to red or white. I don't think it had anything to do with personality, just makes it easier for the ref and the fans. Lots of names and cultures.

Have you guys seen the movie and paid attention to the fighters in multiple fights? You don't need to watch the whole movie since the fight scenes are on YouTube. The first 2 days the fighters never once changed the sash they were wearing. Dux, Jackson, Monkey, Paco always wore yellow except when Paco wore red on the 3rd day. Chong Li, Sumo, Chuan Ip wore red sash except Chuan Ip switched to yellow on day 3.
I totally get the colors are meant for betting. No disagreeing on that. I'm just saying when I was a kid I noticed Paco and Chuan Ip for some reason wore yellow and red sash respectively the first 2 days but for whatever reason on the 3rd day switched colors.
