It's corny as heck, but this movie means a big deal to me as an adult because it was my absolute favorite movie as a kid.
I can recall watching it countless times, jumping off the couch to re-enacts the fights. I can recite the movie from beginning to end!
Even tho It's still my favorite Van Damme movie, others like Hard Target and Timecop are ones I can watch just as much.
I agree with everything you said! Now my son loves this movie also...its funny because he's 10 years old which is the same age I was when I first watched this movie and now im 32. Basically this is a movie that will always live on generation after generation.
shareI was in 9th grade and had just started in martial arts. I remember it was at my local theater very briefly, I wanted to see it but didn't get the chance. But when it hit the local VHS store it was out of stock for weeks. Finally a friends had made a dub on his dual VHS tape deck and gave me a copy. Watched it every weekend for quite a while, then went outside to hit the Everlast bag and wrestle with friends.
Have a framed Bloodsport poster in my mancave, and it still holds a place in my heart, especially the soundtrack!
Well said. Its a horribly made movie but so enjoyable to me and takes me back to my childhood. I too watched it often as a kid and recited the lines and pretended to do some of the moves.
