Question About Chong Li's Kill
What was the deal with the judges turning away from him and everyone else standing up and facing the same direction?
shareWhat was the deal with the judges turning away from him and everyone else standing up and facing the same direction?
shareThey are praying. If you look behind the judges, there are tribute statues with incense to certain gods in Chinese religion and folklore. I think one of them is Buddha.
shareI'm pretty sure they're not turning around to pray, they're shunning Chong Li for his unsportsmanlike cruelty. Y'know, literally turning their backs on him.
shareI'm still a little confused about the repercussions. I just watched this again and, correct me if I'm wrong, but does nothing happen to this guy legally? They're not going to report a murder because it's a secret tournament?
shareUtter BS, they are turning away in shame not praying, what film are you watching? Cho Li does not give a flying feck though.
shareI watched the movie tonight and I'm wondering too etc.
Chong Li did go overboard too much I guess which amazes me since full contact or whatever was allowed and did break another guys neck before in the movie.
Weird rules etc in the movie. Why they keep letting a deranged psycho like Chong back in every time I'd like to know
In the fight scene before the judges and crowd turn their backs to Chong Li in guilt-shaming, Li clearly already won the bout, knocking his competitor unconscious, rendering him unable to defend himself in mortal combat. Therefore, Li's act of execution was not a fatality sustained in the tournament. That's what makes the other deaths excusable and not this one. This film never fails to excite! (^ ^)
shareBecause he’s a warrior. Many true warriors are considered deranged; not all, but many. There is a saying to the effect that the soldier who is a hero to his/her country in wartime is an embarrassment to the country in peacetime; for example, the character of John Rambo, especially in First Blood, which is a GREAT action movie.
shareIt's interesting that Chong Li apparently killed many people during tournaments but he was still confused when this scene happened. Or maybe that was the first time judges turned away from him. :)
shareThis movie is so much better thanks to Chong Li straight murdering a fool.
