What year is this

Why when axel askes that guy what year is it does the guy say 73? thought its set in 1987?

reply

Are you talking about the waiter with the bottle of wine? If so, the guy was referring to the year that the bottle of wine was made.

reply

How can you not know they were talking about a bottle of wine? I saw this movie back when I was a kid and I got what that scene was about.

He was talking about the bottle of wine.

Ahh yes. But this raises a question that I had from watching it just the other day. When looking up Dent's file in his accountants office he sees the visa application date in 1986 (even says "Dent's visa application has today's date on it..." but earlier he said (refeerring to finding the gunmen who shot Bogemill) "7 years ago he put his ass on the line to save mine..." or something to that effect. Obviously the movie was released in 87 so real world time is out the window but even so this would mean the first movie took place in 1979 not 1984 which obviously isn't the case.

reply

Listen again. The line is;

"TWO years ago, the man put his neck ...."

Getting all friggin technical and picky about a Eddie Murphy movie. Jeez!

The first film was shot in "84 and the second was shot in "87. Everything is set in present time.

reply

Since the first one was set in 1984 and if the second movie WAS set in 1973 that would of been really odd because the guy from the truck of cigarettes reconized Axel, and all the guys that are friends in this one didn't know each other in the first.

The first movie takes place in the summer since Axel when he's in the strip club (and identifies a would be stick-up man) with Rosewood and Taggart says that it's June.

This movie feels a little ahead of its time, in terms of the filmmaking. It looks really slick for the 80's. It could fit in with the 90's.
