There's no way Bogamil would be friends with Axel

Bogamil was a commanding officer in the BHPD, and clearly Middle Class

Axel was a foul mouthed jerk from out of town

They came to respect each other.

I believe this concern stands out a little when watching 1 and 2 back-to-back like I just did, in prep to watch 4, but I'm willing to accept it as part of the ongoing story because the rallying around Bogamil being shot by them all is just so touching. It does feel weird seeing Foley kinda cuddling his daughter and stuff like he's an 'uncle' / close friend of the family now, considering their different social and professional levels. But in the end a good solid sequel. Though, I feel the male villain at the end had a pretty lacklustre end, but then it was really all about the tall blonde girl who gets it right after.

I decided not to "prep" and just watched number 4 by itself. Having not see any beverly hills cop movies for many years, I knew it would give me a chance to judge 4 by its own standing and it was a good enough and fun movie that it had me then going back to rewatch 1 through 3 ^_^ I just finished Beverly Hills Cop 2 and I actually liked seeing the cormraderie and friendship between Bogomil, Axel, Taggart, and Rosewood. Just felt genuine and like they really cared about eachother. Axel Cuddling Bogomils daughter implied a deep friendship that developed these past three years, keep in mind he cared the same way about the art studio friend he knew and acted close with her without any sexual tension. Goes to show Axel is classy and genuine. I can beleive it having seen his interaction in the first film. Also I absolutely enjoyed how Axel made it a point to tell his friends he loved them at the first films ending and also this films end. I think the friendships help solidy these movies as being so joyful.

I agree with you that the villain in 2 ended in a lackluster way guy didnt really hold a screen presence like Victor Maitland did, but boy did I laugh when Taggart walked out after saving Axel by shooting Bridgette Neilsen and emphatically says "WOMEN" xD what a trip! I actually liked the villain from 3 the most, I'll watch the third movie soon and see how I feel these days.

I do enjoy the charm and care that Axel shows with Jenny in the first film and Bogamil's daughter in the second. It certainly shows he knows how to genuinely care for those important in his life. Overall, I like how the four of them struck a great friendship in the years between 1 and 2, but I can see how watching them both together quickly like I did can make that feel a little strange.

I actually didn't like the villain in 3. I liked how at the start he so politely asked if his men were okay and that he wouldn't have wanted anyone to get hurt during their heist, and then kills them. But him in the rest of the film doesn't live up to that contrast.

The 'women' comment I thought was funny because we hear about Taggart's wife from time to time in the movies and his mixed feelings about her, and it's a bit of a running joke in the films.

I took a two week break between rewatching one and two so the friendship with Bogomil didnt feel forced or wierd to me. The audiences back then waited three years to see the sequel so maybe they didnt mind it either? I'll watch number three hopefully soon, but the part that I remember the most despite not having seen it in many years is when the villain goes "Oh it couldnt have been me I was in my beach house in Laguna". Axel relaxes and goes "oh okay that makes sense, he was at his beach house in Laguna". Axel rushes forward quickly forcing the cops to grab him again Kicking the air at the villains face "I got your beach house in Laguna"!!!!

I dont remember much else except the villains hide at an amusement park and that wacky wierd gun at the end.

You did as lot better than me! All I remembered about 3 was the theme park ride with the robot Cylons shooting lasers, the water flooding and the train crashing.
