Why didn't Denise just identify her own attacker?

If Denise would have taken the stand herself and testified, she could have confirm Terry's testimony. And why couldn't Denise just ID her own attacker in the police line up as well?

The contrivance was that for whatever (crazy) reason, Denise never got a very good look at her attacker.

She was face down. So no way for her to ID him.
