I just watched this recently and did I hear wrong? It sounded like they called Norman's mother Gloria when they find her skeleton. I thought her name was Norma. And that's another thing, I'm totally confused as to why her skeleton is now buried in front of the Bates house. This tv movie didn't make much sense. You'd think they'd at least get Mrs. Bates' name right.
Yeah I thought that was odd too! There is one theory you can derive from the original book. The doctor's explanation at the end of the book is very similar to that in the movie except he specifies Norman having three personalities that he calls "Norman, Norma and Normal" and suggests that Norman had been a transvestite before Mother died. Mother's name is never mentioned in the original movie other than, when about to attack Lila, Norman dressed as Mother shrieks "I'm Norma Bates!" It would be possible, therefore, that Mrs Bates was not really called Norma but that this is just the name Norman's "Mother" character used. The sequels took this to be her true name, however. As to the body, that takes big suspension of disbelief but there is a line when they find the body where someone says "When all the shockwaves went off around here, they never did find the body!" although quite who is supposed to have taken it out of the cellar and buried it in the lawn is anyone's guess! Of course the corpse could have been planted there by the nasty banker guy as part of his plan to freak Alex out?

sounds good. we know the banker is not a reliable sourceso anything he says can not be trusted as history. so then it makes sense that we should blame as many inconsistancies on him as possible. that makes it better for me anyway...lol
