Mickey Rourke's acting wasn't that good.

Rourke's acting in Angel Heart reminded me of Jack Nicholson in the Shining where he's nuts right in the first scene.

Harry Angel in the book didn't behave like that. He was a typical 1950s hardboiled gumshoe. Rourke behaved the same way in the opening as he did at the end.

I thought Rourke was fantastic, if he appears ‘the same’ it’s just because he was a consistent character, but he goes on a clear emotional journey ending with Rourke’s Oscar-worthy breakdown scene at the end 🏆👏🏻
