When was 'Crocodile' Dundee 2 set?

Does anyone know when 'Crocodile' Dundee 2 is set? Is it 6 months, a week, a year, 2 years? after the ending of the original film. I noticed Sue's hair has changed in the second film and Mick has become a well-respected resident in New York City.

If anything I would have to guess about 6 monthes or so. Long enough for Mick to become accostomed to life in New York, but just long enough for him to start missing home, as he mentions early on in the film after the beginning credits.
