best scene: when he calls the Aborigines


I still love that scene. The reactions of the animals plus that beautiful, to die for Australian sunset. Man, I gotta go there someday!

I agree. That "telephone call" scene was amazing. I liked how the camera operator showed the varied animals reacting to the noise, followed by the slow move up the rocks to focus on Mick, then the viewer sees him sillhouetted against that beautiful sunset, swinging the bullroarer . . . I feel like that slow, uncut pan up the rocks added a sense of mysticism to the scene.

Anyone else besides me try doing this when they were a kid? I actually got a pretty decent sound of a piece of rope and a toy sword.
