Lacks the intelligence of the first movie

The most shocking fact about CDII is its stylistic turnaround from the first movie.
While CD1 was a sharp social satire CDII is a contrived action comedy full of tired movie cliches.

In the first movie all the characters' motivations made sense with both protagonists overcoming their fears and prejudices by their mutual affection. In short a very clever love story.
In CD2 each protagonist simply looks for the easy way out of his/her problems; firstly Sue who submissively obliges to the Colombians demands and secondly Mick who lures the gangsters back to his outback home.
So essentially both revert back to the roles they started out as in the first movie, undoing all the previous development they experienced.

Isn't the whole purpose of...anything..to look for the easiest way out of a problem? Lol

And what exactly was Sue supposed to do while being held captive by the Colombians? They wanted a letter, they were holding her captive until said letter was given to them. What is the problem here exactly? She had no knowledge that anything was amiss until they snatched her off the street. I don't see how she was being unnecessarily submissive.

And Mick took her back to the Outback because he could keep a better eye on her in his own environment. He had no knowledge that Rico and crew would follow, but if they did, he knew he was better prepared in his own familiar territory. It's called laying low. Some people lay low in Mexico, Mick Dundee lays low at home in Australia. None of this is a problem from what I can tell.
