TV Version

I just saw this on cable this weekend, TBS I think, and I dunno if it was just me, but the cut out the whole part of the movie where Mick gets a job working for Leroy. The part where he talks the dude off the building was gone. Was that just me or has anyone else noticed this on the television version?

reply

Yes, you are correct. They edited all that on t.v.

reply

probably because it makes light of suicide and not so good response to the guy being gay. which of course neither was their intention. bunch of jokers.

I never saw it in the movies or rented it from blockbnuster.... I always had a VHS copy taped the night it came out on ABC tv at 8pm lol

These 2 scenes were never in it way back then either... and watching it on dvd the other day it feels like a whole new movie... lots more cuss words too

personal favorite was at the end when the guy says "We swapped it with that bastard, so we can flush the other fella out."..... on tv they edit it to say We swapped it with that fella, so we can flush the other fella out.

The line flows better in the original lol

I see the very same thing. But yet they do not edit it out when its on USA, TNT and even Comedy Central. I do not understand that at all. They do the same thing with "Sex in the City" too. It ruins the show and confuses many people.

reply

they did it here in the UK and cut out the scene where mick throws the knife at miguel(luises brother)

reply

Honestly when this is on in the uk they show a different version each time, cutting numerous scenes.

reply

I'd say its more for time. The movie is almost two hours long and neither of those scenes is really needed for the plot. Those scenes are funny but taking them out doesn't change the story.

reply

Spike has it all back in!

the never have edited it here in australia for tv when they have stuck it on our network ten or our channel 7 i don't know why overseas networks do it for

reply

Well, I would imagine in Australia they wouldn't cut anything. Just like in Canada they would never shorten movies about hockey. haha.

It depends on the channel and the television standards that area has. When I see the show on American networks it differs. Peachtree aka TBS is out of Atlanta and the cut up movies like confetti. In Canada CBC will show all movies unedited.

Something similar happens when Ace Ventura is played on television. I have seen this movie at least a dozen times on television and I have seen different versions each time. There are scenes in some airings that were not in the original theatrical release.

reply

haha. you're right about Ace! There seems to be a new deleted scene everytime this shows up on cable. no complaints though.
