One of the best TV Series Ever Made

There's something to be said about a series where once the episode ends, one takes a long slow walk with their thoughts as the theme music plays, unable to turn it off, listening to it again and again and again and never finding an end to the winding path of thoughts that are sparked by so many of this series incredible stories that lead us through the stretch of darkness that is the Vietnam War.

Perhaps one becomes a little wiser, a little more compassionate, and a little more understanding of what these brave soldiers experienced, so that the battle lines back home between war and peace, citizen and soldier, us and them may start to fade.

This is one of those few, rare moments in history, that history has an opportunity to change lives, if we only listen with our hearts and minds.

My sister's father in law is a veteran of WWII. He doesn't talk about the war. He was drafted I believe, did his time, and got out. He's now in his early to mid 80s, but I think in some ways after watching this series, I see him a little differently. Perhaps a little more compassionately, and with much respect.

I would highly recommend anyone to seek out this series, and gleam a little wisdom, and share that with the ones you love.

Thank you.

Watched this as a kid, used to record it late on the VCR and watch in the morning. Great show, just suddenly thought of it and to look it up. It's a pity that the stars didn't go on to do much, but I remember thinking it was great.

All the actors do seem to still be working in the business, mostly in TV, a few movies here and there, which is pretty good when you consider so many actors in shows from the '70s and '80s just sort of move on from acting.

Kim Delaney is in the prime time show Army Wives, another show about war, Miguel A. Núñez Jr "Taylor" has been real busy, sorta kinda mostly doing comedy. Ramón Franco of course is on "Weeds", Dan Gauthier has mostly done Soaps, but sadly Stephen Caffrey and Terence Knox haven't done a whole lot, and they really were the best of the series.

Terry has done several indie movies and guest TV appearances. Stephen has done mostly stage acting (which are not listed on IMDb) over the years and has stayed busy with that. Steve A. and Josh M. (Doc and Horn of the first season) work mostly behind the camera. Eric B. has been somewhat busy with guest appearances on TV. John (Doc Hoc) worked on Touched By An Angel for nine seasons.

You need to check out Hum90 and see what the guys are up too....epecially Stephen...his plays are reviewed all the time and he is extremely busy.

John Dye is doing mostly Indie films too.

Tony Becker has a successful career on 4WheelerTV....on camera and behind. He recently did a commercial for Repower America.

I was recently on a cruise and they were playing this on Tcm from a Spanish country.I was struck by how intense and honest it was. I just received the dvd's through netflix. The ones that I have seen so far play like mini movies.

The episode with Ving Rhames that dealt with racism was super thought provoking. You used to hear conversations like that was many years ago. They probably toned down the alcoholism and drug abuse.
