The picture quality SUCKS!
I bought all 3 seasons at Sprawlmart and I tell you it looks like it was recorded off some ancient 2 head VCR. Plus the original music was gone and replaced with "Muzac" what a freakin bummer! :-(
shareWell, what are you expecting, high definition? Personally I didn't notice anything wrong with the picture quality, it had kind of a film grain look in the first season but I kind of liked it that way because it gives it a vintage look, like one of those old 1960's war education films - it fits the plot.
Chances are that it was recorded on a VCR. It was the eighties, and a lot of shows and TV films were saved by being recorded on VCR tapes and put into storage. The "muzak" is probably what allowed the series to be sold on DVD. Has CBS left the original soundtrack in place, they'd be drowning in copyright payments and wouldn't be able to pay for all the music.
