I see a lot of "The period music was replaced by generic music" or the like.

Just FYI, that "generic" music was ALWAYS the TOD theme! When they were not playing period music, that is what you heard. The theme was played in the ending credits during the original run (the first season was the fast version, the latter season played the slower somber sounding version).

Yes, the original run had many great period music and added flavor to the show. It's a shame that the people who had the rights to the show wouldn't fork out the money to renew the rights to have the music on syndication and subsequent DVD (USA) release.

Again, that period music added flavor to the show! Damn the reasons why it didn't come to syndication and DVD release!

Just get the UK version from Amazon.co.uk - it's uncut and with all the original music.
The only other thing you need is a region free DVD or Blu-ray player (I have the OPPO BDP-103 with hardware modification)

IMO what I call sound tracking or what is referred to here as period music did very little for me in the way of enhancing the story or action. Sound tracking for the most part is marketing for the music industry. The same goes for American Idol and similar shows. They want you to buy product and could care less about how well a contestant can cater-waller through a known song from decades ago. In movies about the only time sound tracking worked was in Forrest Gump which was nostalgia themed to start with. At its worst it is an audio pacifier for people who can't think for themselves.

????? Do you really think that the music industry cares about the average contestant on American Idol? They only care about making money therefore patronizing the older generations who usually have the deepest pockets. Otherwise 1960's music would have been relegated to the garbage can decades ago.

You're not wrong there .

My post was about the correct use of the phrase "could not care less" , which when mis quoted as "could care less" means pretty much the opposite of what the user intends it to mean.
