The original show about SIMPS

A 304 dates two guys at the same time. She gets pregnant has the kid (I'm surprised she just didn't abort it- that seems to be the fashion with "strong independent women" these days) and makes the two guys take care of her kid after she dies, but no one knows which one is her real dad.

No sane man would do this! Not one. A sane man would demand a paternity test immediately.

He would not simp and move in with the other guy who was banging his girl and then raise the 304's kid together.

A rational premise for a show like this would have been to have one of them be the known father and the other guy was his friend/roommate. The other guy could have moved in to help out with raising the daughter. However, since the daughter didn't have a mother, he would have also taken on the role of (somewhat of) a second father. That way it could still be called "My Two Dads" because they were both raising her.

It would have also made her mom out to be a tragic loss instead of the loss of a 304. Yes, I am aware that the death is still tragic, but the mom's death loses its impact on the viewers because her mom was a lousy human being. It is terrible to be a cheater no matter what your sex is. $h!t heads cheat- not decent people. The fact that she was cheating/jumping back and forth for her own amusement, so much, that she had no idea whose kid it was makes her seem even worse.

Also, if they had used the sane and logical premise that I stated above it would make the episode where Nicole talks about how one of her dad's is hot, a lot less creepy and pedophilic!

I was eleven when this came out and even at that very young age, I thought it was f'd up.

Let me restate that. I WAS 11 AND I KNEW THE PREMISE WAS VERY OFF! I WAS ELEVEN YEARS OLD! I WAS A LITTLE KID! I KNEW THAT THIS WAS BULLOX!

So, with the premise as it stands, how was this show green lit?

reply

I can't debate you because I fully agree.
I never once watched this show because of this insane premise. Maybe it had great jokes? I don't know

reply

Debate about this show is probably not possible when talking to someone with a normal functioning brain. lol

I only saw this show a few times. I saw it when I was much younger (as I stated above) but the premise and the few episodes that I did see were creepy and weird.

My thinking is that a lot of young people watched it for Staci Keenen. I was a little too young to see her in a sexual way, but even when I was 11, I was fully able to recognize just how pretty she was.

reply

i'm just annoyed/offended about a prime time SHOW based around some girl fucking two guys. but that's just me

reply

Maybe it was a disguise for the beginning of the strong empowered boss girl movement. The 304 was strong enough to be a 304 and raise her kid on her own, but once the 304 dies, it takes two simps to raise her daughter.

and where was a DAD for the previous 11 years?? I dont know the setup, but stills sounds awful, not to mention dumb.

reply

looks like this is on TUBI. I might watch the first episode for fun

reply

Come back and share your review about the episode. It could be fun to laugh about how bad it probably is.

reply

I enjoyed MAD ABOUT YOU in the past, I liked Paul, I barely remember this show. :D

meh... first, I don't care for TV Shows. Ever. So....

very very very typical 80s-ish TV show. well made, lit, acted, written, bland, CANNED laughter - I actually didn't laugh once with the fake sounding audience.
They did the explanation (weak), went for the heartstrings midway through, just overall, very average. I don't reccommend.

Looking forward to your analysis of BJ and the Bear.

I'll help you out with one part - he wasn't even a bear.

reply

Tell me about it. That series was like totally racist against bears. For the life of me I cannot understand how it slipped underneath the radar of the World Wildlife Fund. Somebody better call Vince Mcmahon and figure out who was asleep at the wheel. It's well past time for heads to start to roll!

What the hell is a "304"?

reply

I was going to ask the same thing.

Apparently, 304 spells "HOE" on an upside-down calculator. I just googled it. I don't think they're referring to the gardening implement.

reply

Thanks. But jesus, just say "HOE". There's no need to be coy.

reply

It was a stupid show. You are correct but overthinking it.

reply

I'm just stating facts about how dumb of a premise it was to begin with and how another premise could have made it less stupid.

If something that simple is overthinking it, I'd hate to hear about what underthinking would be...

reply

Ha! Thinking about that show is overthinking IMO.
