no real man in real life would put up with a wife like Peg

The car episode where of his 5,000 dollars all he finds it 800 would've been the straw that broke the camel's back.

All wives can do irritating things, but My God, If I had her to go to bed with each night, I'd let a lot pass by

reply

I would have left ditched her and left the kids with her too.

no way, Peg just needed some tweeking and she'd be perfect

Pretty sure divorce, alimony, and child support would have made his life worse.

And he was at least just as bad to put up with.

I agree. She was a thief who stole from Al constantly. Lied to him nonstop. Treated him like *beep* Would have cheated on him with the right man....in other words a rich man. Worst mother on Earth.

And the episodes showing what a horrible wife she was were eclipsed by the episodes with that horrible character Seven (of which a great deal has been written about) where Peg treated her own family even worse than usual.

They made Seven out to be one mean little ahole of whom no one would ever like. He was a terrible character and Peg throwing her family outside because the little bastich sneezed (No one would have put up with that BS.) would have been the very last straw.

As the show went on I began to hate the character of Peg a lot.She was just the worst which is why in my scenario, Al wins the lottery, gives Peg half when he divorces her, takes care of Kelly with a trust fund, pays Bud's education and disappears to live the rest of his life in Tahiti with topless girls catering to him and special guest Steve who retires with him and the last shot is of a smiling Al who is finally happy at last, while Peg blew through her half of the lottery in less than a year and becomes a bag lady we never hear from again.

They who give up liberty to
obtain a temporary safety deserve
neither liberty or safety

I agree. The first season we see the character Peg actually cleaning and cooking and the show was portrayed as stories of any middle class white family in America at that time. When the show became Peg lazy, Kelly dumber and Bud utterly horny, the ONLY thing that saved it was Al.

reply

C'mon, she's one of the 'best' worst mothers. I love how she still refuses to cook until the end, she always made me laughs. The show is just boring without her where she was pregnant at its time.

reply

Lots of people in real life put up with worse than that.

Yea my neighbor used to come home to a drunk wife that was screwing around with the teenage boys down the street(Not that the cops will ever prove anything). One time she locked the baby in the house while she was stuck outside drunk. Its a good thing a teenage boy found a way to let her back in. I'm pretty sure she returned the favor.

There are several episodes where they're separated and want to divorce, too. But later they realise, that they can't live without each other.

reply

There would be but they would either be a lot less confident than Al or a lot more confident and be prepared to put her in her place.
