Why did David Garrison leave the show?
You never really saw him again on any series or film.
Why did he leave?
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

I think he went on to Broadway.

Yep he missed the theater
shareActually David Garrison did appear 4 other times after leaving the show during the 4th season in 1990, and he went to theatre. He was brought out from his contact and he left the show on good terms from the producers. He did appear in TV shows as a guest star after Marrield With Children and following his departure he was on a short lived show called "Work It Out." However he had a successful career on and off Broadway.

Right he came back in guest appearances a few times to be nice. Garrison had worked with Ron and Michael on their show It's Your Move before MWC and they wrote the Steve Rhoades character for him, so they had gotten along and when he wanted to leave, they understood.
sharethis is the cause i remember too reading years ago. some of his guest appearances in later years were quite funny episodes though the series declined over the years, but what i really don't get is why they had him appear in that "radio episode" since the main cast was barely in that one. its always a downer to see his last episodes as a regular cast back in the 1980's, because you know parallel with that the series will start to go down hill from there. as this reruns in my country they start all over with episode 1 in 1987 after airing the series to the barely watchable last episode in 1997, that is quite the contrast to rewind to 1987. by the way, a lesser visible departure from the series, al's co worker who was only at the start of the series, i always thought they dropped him cause he was too similar to al bundy himself. there really wasn't any explanation to why he suddenly didn't appear with al in the shoe store anymore, but years later al showed he was at the cover of a shoe magazine.

He wanted to return to theater, so they let him go. Funny thing: Garrison had worked with these same producers on It's Your Move on NBC and they wrote the Steve character for him. Maybe that's why they were willing to let him go-because they respected him.
He currently is touring in Wicked.
Yes as others have stated he said that he missed the theater.
But briefly after exiting Married With Children he was on an NBC series, Working It Out .
I think it had to do with MONEY.
