Most disturbing episode

I read DesperateHouseboy76 statement that the Quilt of Hathor was the most disturbing episode. Im interested to know why that was, as well as what other people found to be disturbing for them. For me, it was definitely "My Wife As A Dog", even the main characters looked completely weirded out lol.

reply

Personally, I think the most disturbing episode is "Epitaph For A Lonely Soul." I think "Better Off Dead" comes in a close 2nd though. Neil Munro played the villian in both of those episodes.

reply

I think he said it was disturbing because of the hypocrisy of a religious sect using cursed objects. Plus killing someone in their dreams while there are absolutely defenseless is pretty low too.

I think "What a Mother Wouldn't Do" is pretty disturbing with the scenes of the baby being in pain or whatever and crying so much.

Freddy Kreuger Made a whole career out of it.

Is it ONLY our board that gets beseiged by trolls?

Sheesh...

Now they must get everything back. And the real terror begins...

I miss jarth -_-

He may have been a troll, but he was our troll with his own brand of asshattery, not some fly by night rapscallion.

Careful, Charlie... You may be treading on "deals with the devil" when you invoke that name!

I'm not sure if this episode really 'disturbed' me, but it did creep me me out... It was the one featuring Oscar the Dummy who comes to life, slowly becoming more 'human' in his appearance. He also said some pretty diabolically funny lines like 'Gotta pay the piper!' and 'I got something to say preacher!'. This puppet made Chucky seem like a Cabbage Patch Kid!

reply

Mine would have to be 'What a mother wouldn't do" a close second would have to be "A Friend to the End"

shhhhh! lol

I think he got IP banned. Or I think he realized he got in over his head as everyone began to gang up on him. I do miss the arguments though. Profiler, joy, and wings vs jarth. Good times

reply

Granted, I haven't watched all of the episodes. But I have to say that the most disturbing episode to me, by far, is "Better Off Dead." "Wax Magic" comes in at a close second.

And Charlie! SHH! NEVER say that name again. Don't want to invoke evil spirits.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned "Crippled Inside," so I will. This episode is disturbing to me for two reasons.

1. The attempted rape of Rachel.

2. The "death by acid" scene. I had a very vague memory of this scene from when I first watched it. But I didn't remember it being so graphic! Quite frankly, it surprised me. I know that boy was a monster for what he did to Rachel. But in my book, no one deserves to die like that.

reply

That guy got a fate worse than acid in the face. He married Tori Spelling.

reply

The wheelchair episode was very disturbing! At first I thought that the old man who was healed of a stroke was Louis Vendedri(sp?) himself, but it wasn't.

Doctor Who: "I'm a Time Traveler, I point and laugh at archaeologists."

reply

I'll add one more (careful, spoilers!):

3. Rachel's accident. It doesn't help that they had the car actually run over something, but that last shot where the guy gets out and sees her all twisted but her eyes are still moving is creepy as all hell. You can tell she's still living and trapped in her own body. Very scary.

Of course, the whole episode is a bit twisted. I do think that was Uncle Lewis taunting and misleading the new guy throughout the episode, and Micki probably should have known better than to leave him alone to grab artifacts. The whole episode was top notch and dark, but the acid gore...good GOD. If there was one incident that made people stand up and notice, it was there. 'Stick It In Your Ear' and 'Hate on Your Dial' are pretty damn gross and dark as well.

It seems that the third season, they really pumped up everything and it worked beautifully. The show could have gone on for a few more seasons if they kept it up!

reply

The ending of "Stick It In Your Ear" was the one that I remember well.

reply

For me, the most disturbing was the "Prophecies" episode because:

It dealt with demonic possession.

And it was Ryan's last episode.

I do agree. But the head of the gang is more [CENSORED] in the head - trespassin' and trying to kill her. I'm affronted that she didn't tell Mom so she could call the police

I don't remember the title, but the episode with the doctor who uses a cursed hypodermic to give his murderous child-daughter brief periods of lucidity, that was very disturbing, seeing that kid panting with rage and dripping with blood. This show always pushed the limits of what was acceptable on 1980's TV, I still wonder how they were able to show these twisted scenes.

I agree with afnaste (and I think another poster above)--"Better Off Dead" was very disturbing. It was so sad at the end when Jack says something to Ryan about Micki crying which meant that she was experiencing emotions again.

Brain Drain.
While watching it for the first time and for some days after, I could feel the needle slamming into the back of my skull!

I'm right here. They don't IP ban here, geniuses. I was banned by username. However, thanks to a new credit card, I'm back.

reply

lol...I can't believe someone actually wrote that.

So jarth, does that mean you were amongst us the entire time..under another username?

If so, how did you manage to contain your usual "bright & sunny" demeanor?

Mezmer's Bauble or My Wife as a Dog. Both had similarites but if I had to weigh the two then Mezmer's comes out on top since its a personal obsession with oneself to completely be somebody else.

"Better Off Dead" was the most disturbing episode of the series, hands down. My local affiliate ran that episode preceded with a disclaimer that the following program contained disturbing violence. They'd never run that disclaimer before, so I knew I was in for something.

Night Prey cause I can understand dealing with what Jack did.

Vanity’s Mirror I understand cause I've been that girl and help kids like that so.

Midnight Riders cause it has to be hard not seeing your dad and then seeing him, dead.

Crippled Inside for reasons already stated.

I just saw "Wedding in Black" (again, on TV) and I found that very disturbing, as each of the "old friends" of our heroes were working for Lucifer. It's one thing when they go up against evil people (they did it all the time, natch) but these people were their FRIENDS, that were at one time (or were perceived as being) GOOD by Micki, Ryan & Jack.

reply

Wow.

That definitely has my vote for most disturbing ep.
