"Come Back Little Eggby" -- Why, God?

IMO, three episodes of A Different World should have never seen the light of day.

Maggie and the egg (S1: E21) is just BEYOND stupid.

Other episodes we can just pretend never happened:

"Liza Who-Little" S5: E8 -- Jasmine Guy in a dual-role with fake buck teeth doing an even stronger accent. Why, God?

"The Little Mister" S6: E7 -- The women in drag as presidential candidates. "Jill Blinton," anyone?

I'm through.

I never got that episode; no college courses ever required for their students to take care of an egg. I remember during that in high school but not college.

The problem with the first season was the original format/concept fell through and the producing staff left.

So Anne Beatts was brought in at the last minute. Most of the first season episodes were based on script from Square Pegs. That's why there were stories about taking care of an egg.

Why blame God for these episodes? TV is made by mortal humans! lol

I must disagree with the last one. That was a great commentary regarding sexism in politics. Much of it is still pretty relevant today. And Karen Malina White's Ross Perot was fantastic!!

As I mentioned in a post on another message board topic about "A Different World," all of those first season plots were supervised by none other than Anne Beatts, who served as creator, producer and head writer of "Square Pegs," the 1982-83 CBS sitcom starring Sarah Jessica Parker as one of two geeky girlfriends who tried to fit in with the cool kids, led by Jami Gertz and Tracy Nelson. Thank God for Debbie Allen taking over "ADW" from Season 2 until the very end, making the show what it was supposed to be, about life at an all black college campus, not a preppy, predominantly white high school.
