Krista Allen fired

It was announced in Dec. 2023 that after being nominated for her first Emmy after joining the show in 2021 as a replacement for Hunter Tylo, former softcore pornstar Krista Allen was fired.

She said producers told her in October that her contract wouldn’t be renewed and her last episode was on Nov. 8.

A spokesman for the show told Deadline they do not comment on the status of casting. An insider revealed, however, that Allen was offered the chance to recur and she declined.

A rep for Allen countered by saying his client in late November was offered the opportunity to say just three lines for an episode “after a couple months of nothing.”

Wow, I didn't even know Soap Operas still existed.

Things have changed so much since my youth.

One can remember, back in the day, everyone was either into "Guiding Light' or "General Hospital".

But of course, at that time, you only had three channels to watch.

It made sense Soap Operas faded away. I'm surprised any still exist. I liked "Guiding Light" and they went off the air about 15 years ago.

Just looked it up. Today, only four of them remain. Three are on the regular networks: The Bold and the Beautiful (CBS), General Hospital (ABC), and The Young and the Restless (CBS). One, the Days of Our Lives, airs only on the Peacock (NBC) app.

Back in the 1990s, there were 12.

Yep, times have changed. There were probably 15-20 daytime soaps, plus night time soaps as well in my youth. Two things made soaps obsolete, IMO. One, was reality television and talk shows. Both are much cheaper to produce. And #2, so much more to choose from now. Thanks for looking into that jk90us.
