Does anything think Megatron would have survived the outcome his final battle with Optimus Prime had he not been jettisoned into space by Starscream?

Had they returned to Cybertron and given him repairs probably. Course this is a movie where a robot blown to pieces can be repaired, but not a few shots in Prime's chest. Maybe the Junkions are just that good.

I think Megs coulda survived he appeared to just need repairs and energeon.
It has been discussed but UM's body took the damage not his "spark" so to speak.
Just think some people fly through windsheilds slide across 3 feet of pavement and all they have is a bruise on their elbow while others who smack the dashboard die instantly.

Megatron, at the hands of other similar sized robots, was pretty much indestructible.
He was badly damaged, and probably would have just continued to aimlessly float throughout space, but he would have lived.
Starscream was the idiot that Megatron always called him, by not trying to destroy what was left of Megatron on Astrotrain. Instead...he drops him out of Astrotrain, Megs is found by Unicron, and the rest is history.

How much effort would one well placed blast to Megatrons face have taken? Absolutely right, Stascreams carelessness cost him his life.

Not exactly. At first they had laser cores. But Skyfire crashed and they gave him a memorial... 2 episodes later they dig him out. Starscream's spark/ghost possesses Scourge and Cyclonus in Season 3 (post movie). Optimus dies and comes back nearly THREE times. Starscream steals Decepticon 'personality' components for the Combaticons. The Combaticons were operating but did they have 'life' before Starscream install the components? Seaspray's superstructure changed on one planet but he still had his 'self'. Heck it was out there but they moved Spike's soul to a transformer for a short time. So basing all this in G1 cannon... yeah a TF laser core/spark is akin to a soul. Thus sparks in Beast Wars. I could have sworn they called them sparks in one episode though...
You call it 'gay' but I found Beast Wars a wonderful addition to the fandom and story. Personally still wondering where the cheese came from and how it got in a TREE before man was around... or heck cows for that matter. Check the rat in the first episode and in the opening of Season 1. Funny stuff. We saw snakes, crows, deer, and a few other creatures in Beast Wars but no cows to explain where the cheese came from the rat that was scanned for Rattrap.

I don't think so. If that was going to be the case, Unicron would have just simply restored him and not reformatted him into Galvatron.
