So I picked up the 30th anniversary edition yesterday and what an ordeal! I went to my local Best Buy and couldn't find it on the shelf, when I asked the staff they told me their not getting a lot of new items because their about to start renovations. She then checked their system to see if any other stores had them. Apparently Canada Best Buys didn't get them!

I went to Walmart, nope. I asked for the 30th anniversary edition TF movie that was released today, didn't get it and not going to. He then gave me another movie that was released the same day. Not what I wanted. He then offered me some other animation movie. "That's not what I'm looking for!" Guy looked at me all confused "Well which movie are you gonna get?"
"sigh"

ToysRus, Visions and Superstore don't even have movies anymore as I found out yesterday. So I did what I didn't want to do, order it though Amazon. Pay more for shipping and wait for it to arrive. I then found out HMV had them, canceled Amazon order and picked a BluRay copy.

Watching this on a recently purchased 60" 4K/TV brought back memories of watching this in theaters so many years ago, definitely worth the money. Did any others have as much trouble trying to find a copy within Canada? As of today it looks like HMV has sold out.

I had the same issue in the States. Couldn't find it anywhere. I ended up ordering it on Amazon. Should be in today.

Same here ! Had to order on Amazon. None of my local stores carried it to my surprise.

My nearest HMV carries occasional Shout! Factory titles in stores, but for the most part I've noticed you have to special order most of them. For some reason Shout! titles are hard to find in stores. Such a shame, because they have put out a lot of rare films.

I think it's coming out in December here in the UK. I need to buy this on Blu-Ray!

If you already have the metrodome release, I wouldn't bother buying the 30th as it uses the same badly scratched source the Metrodome Blu-Ray used.

They've darkened the picture and the colours are how they should've been to being with on the "remastered" 20th anniversary DVD, as they were on the Rhino DVD release, but nothing's been cleaned or repaired. there's still a lot of film grain / noise, there are bad scratches almost throughout the entire film.

This 30th Anniversary was nothing more than a quick cash grab by Shout, nothing at all has been remastered, the split-screen comparison footage they showed of the Transformation of Megatron to Galvatron was of the 20th anniversary DVD compared to the higher res Blu-Ray.

Instead of actually using the UK Blu-Ray, which would've shown them up as the fraudsters that they are, they used another poor DVD copy of the movie to trick people into buying the Blu-Ray.
