Meg Ryan played Carole Bradshaw in Tony Scott's Top Gun, and after that, she became a big rom-com star in the late 1980s and 1990s.

She had a fairly short shelf life despite lots of support and it seemed to end when she had an affair with Russell Crowe whilst filming Proof of Life which wasn’t a very good film anyway.

She also tried doing edgier roles which alienated her fan base without attracting new fans.
