They don't make movies like this anymore

Yes, it was cheesy and, yes, it is down the throat publicity for the American Army.....but man, I really miss those days.

Have you noticed that none of today's movies have a leading hero like Maverick? Today we either have silly girl heroines or steroid hunks. Brains and intelligence don't matter anymore, any girl in movies likes casual sex and there's no more honour in movies.

The notions of sacrifice and decency have also fell in favour of trashy humour, found every 5 minutes in every blockbuster.

Nothing feels like the 80s anymore. Those wonderful years..... being Maverick as he rides his bike into the sunset on Berlin's music....

My ratings are not always like the IMDB average score because I only enjoy intelligent movies.

Thank god.

Yeah, thank God for The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Thor becoming iconic and milkling billions of dollars from mindless masses ;)))))))))))))))))))

Did I state I was fond of those movies either?

The US Army is not featured ANYWHERE in this film, Idiot.

Obviously he means the armed forces or military. He simply misused the term ARMY. No need to call him an idiot.

English isn't my 1st language. I'm sorry for any mistakes in grammar, spelling...

reply

Had he said "American Military" rather than "American Army"... fine.

But he didn't.

He is an idiot.
There is no US Army present in this film. To say this showcases the American Army... is being a total moron.

Agreed. While it was clearly the US Navy, it's easy to forget this is an international site. I noticed the OP spelled "honour" with a "u", so it appears they are from a foreign country and likely know little to nothing about any branch of the military.

Calling other people names is in vogue now when you consider the examples being set in the presidential election.

Top Gun was a fun movie and no young leading men today have cruise's charm.

... nothing against your opinions or tastes, but in my view, your tagline constitutes something of an oxymoron for someone praising Top Gun. Whatever adjectives one might use to describe the film, I would not consider "intelligent" to be one of them.

... unless you are being ironic somehow.

Now our movie heroes are comic book or women who in real life don't exist.
These women heroes are agenda driven by liberal Hollywood.

Tom tried to.
