Sulu (George Takai's) reaction when he first saw San Fransisco
Just watching it on TV and just had to laugh at how George Takai's eyes lit up when he first saw San Fransisco (when he said he was born there)

shareWhich really screwed up the fanlore, which up to that point had him born on a failed colony.

He was itching to be first to the Yellow Pages so he could find out what club Village People were playing at.

Duty Now For The Future
Always wished they kept the deleted scene where Sulu meets up with one of his ancestors, his multiple-great grandfather as a kid. Anyone know if this scene is included in the Special Edition DVD, or the bluray?
shareNever filmed. Apparently the kid had one of the worst stage moms of all time who sabotaged them every time they tried to film. Shatner's Star Trek Movie Memories has a section about this.

HahA! That must have been a hoot on set. Nimoy should have had studio security toss that kid's mother out on her rear. Thanks for the reply, bjlevine.
shareHe tried really hard to get the kid away from his mom, but in the end they only had a couple of days for shooting. George kept wanting to try and eventually Leonard had to convince him to give it up.
A shame too, as each of the other actors was given their moment. Chekov's is really done well.

Too bad for the kid. He would have had his 15 minutes of fame, and a story to tell his grandkids.
shareIt's too bad for Takei. I think he was generally given the shaft and overlooked in a few of the Trek movies. I don't recall any standout moments for Takei in Treks I, II, IV, and V. He got shafted in II when Sulu was supposed to be promoted to captain, but those scene got deleted. His big redemption finally came in VI when he saves the day.
