Nichols getting the formula would affect the timeline more. Nichols could become disgustingly rich off the formula for its military as well as practical applications. Therefore, anyone with this formula could potentially manipulate key industries, stocks, and possibly nations.
Unless there were some significant contribution from Gillian's future offspring, her disappearance wouldn't affect the timeline as much as she would merely be listed as one of hundreds of millions of women who go missing globally every year.
