If so, I would agree. She was just a user. A player of the worst kind. She used Kirk to save the whales, and then to hitch a ride to the 23rd century. And then ditches Kirk at the first opportunity. Kirk probably thought, "Now I know how all those women must have felt!"
She ditched everything in her 20th century life to stay with the whales, so I don't think it's unreasonable that she would put them ahead of everything in the 23rd century, including Kirk. I'm assuming she was assigned to an ocean going science vessel (Seaquest DSV mkVIII).
Besides, he's better off without her.

I'm guessing that her whale duties left her with little time for movies that year, because I bet she would never have jumped in to Kirk's teleport stream if she had caught The Fly that summer.
