Why no Cinematographer credit?
The on-film ending credits do not list a Cinematographer or Director of Photography for SpaceCamp (1986), but do list two Second Unit Directors of Photography: Robert Jessup and Jack Cooperman. Imdb.com and several other sources I checked list William A. Fraker (who is actually William A. Fraker, III) as the Cinematography Director of Photography. The ending credits do list his son, William A. Fraker, IV, as Second Assistant Cameraman.
I was searching the ending credits for the Cinematographer because I encountered an internet interview of Lea Thompson where she mentioned the filmmakers had no idea how to shoot the weightless scenes in the shuttle.
Does anyone know why no Cinematographer is listed in the ending credits? It could be as simple as some staffer being confused with two William A. Fraker credits and leaving one of them out, but that would be a rather significant error almost on par with forgetting to credit a movie’s director.
