Good books to read about El Salvador Civil War to the Present?

Hey guys,

I figured I might be able to find some suggestions on books to read about the Civil War on here. So far, I've read "The Massacre at El Mozote" by Mark Danner-and it's a real eye opener.

Anyone else have any suggestions? Me being half-Salvadoran, I feel it's necessary to know about the events that made my country what it is today.

Thanks!

Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent gives interesting information about the way the US media portrayed the crimes in El Salvador; mainly his thesis is that the US media, working in tandem with the US government's official line, ignored most of the crimes because El Salvador was a client state of the USA. Very interesting book, essential to any citizen in the 21st century.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.
