I want to ask the hypothetical question of what if Sgt. Barnes had survived the last battle and came back home?
What do you think his life trajectory would be like as a civilian? What kind of work would he do? You think he’d be married?

Barnes wouldn’t have lasted long on the outside. He would have self sabotaged his life to the point of a violent death, done by himself or that of another.
shareEver heard of Mike Hoare? I think Barnes would have gone down a similar path. He would have gone back to the states and tried to work an honest job (probably in a factory or meat packing plant) but become instantly dissatisfied and yearned to go back in the jungle. He then would have linked up with some mercenary group and gone to fight in various African bush wars for the next decade or even in Cambodia.
