Would Charlie sheen’s character get away it that killing (spoilers)

At the end, he shoots Tom Berenger. Presumably, the Americans are going to take Berenger’s body home, and they will medically examine the body. They’ll be able to track the bullets as American.

I know it might be a stretch, but could an investigation lead them to Charlie Sheen?

reply

The bullets that killed Barnes weren't American bullets. Taylor picked up an NVA Type 56 rifle and used that to shoot Barnes.

reply

Probably not, he shot him with an AK-47 that he picked up off the ground. If anything they’d conclude the NVA shot him. Considering all of the chaos that was going on it would be next to impossible to trace the murder back to Chris.

reply

They're not going to bother with forensic investigation on bodies recovered from a battlefield. Even if some exceptionally astute fellow said, "'ere, these bullet holes look like they were made by a 5.56" (which would never happen - way too many corpses to process), the response would be "poor sod must have gotten it by friendly fire, then. Happens all the time." There would be no investigation.

reply

Well as the other posters have mentioned here...he shot him with a Soviet made weapon. But even if he shot him with an American one...and they saw the bullets were from an American weapon...they’d simply conclude friendly fire in the heat of a major battle where the NVA breached the wire.

reply

It would not be unheard of for NVA to be equipped with many different types of small arms anyway, including ones US forces would use.

reply

Yeah that too.

reply

Even if he was found shot with 5.56 they would probably just conclude that he got caught in a crossfire and was shot accidentally by an American soldier, happens all the time.
