It had nothing to do with why they were there, those factors were beyond their control, but what their actions were as human beings. Junior was a coward because he felt he could rape innocent children and get away with it. Barnes was a coward because he murdered Elias to prevent himself from facing justice. Bunny was a coward because he got off on beating unarmed civilians to death. O’Neill was a coward because he was a bully and he only cared about himself. Wolfe was a coward because he stood by and did nothing during the village massacre. In short, their personalities and how they faced the situation was what made them cowardly. Chris, Francis, Elias, King, Harold etc. were all heroes because they tried to do the right thing and help their fellow man and soldier.
