That seems to be a cliche of the movie with an aging cop. Clint Eastwood and Burt Reynolds did it a lot too.

shareEven though Arabella does develop a crush on Jack as the film goes on, I wouldn't call her a love interest. Probably 99.9% of the movie he seems pretty clueless about even starting a romantic relationship with her. Unless you think they might have developed a sexual relationship after the movie.
