Too Much Music

Love this film and hear it looks fantastic in 35mm but does anyone else wish there was a cut of this film with less soundtrack? It's pretty much wall to wall with "pop" music where if need be a more traditional score would have worked or even silence. Mann is normally very good at the use of music in his other films so it's odd that in this film it is so poor.

There's 3 pop/rock tunes in the soundtrack which isn't really wall to wall for me.

The tunes are prominent though and I don't think the movie wears them all particularly well. The tune during Dollarhyde and Reba's courtship was fine. The second track wasn't too bad but the last track felt like a bucket of cold water being thrown in your lap.

Glasgow's FOREMOST authority Italics = irony. Infer the opposite please.

Overall i like the soundtrack, haunting, eerie, moody...i agree that it is "loud" and often used but it fits well the film...all the songs used for the Dollarhyde and Reba part of the story are just great, in my opinion, also the "Graham's theme" is used wonderfull twice in the film, during the pier/cafeteria scene and Graham slowly resolving the enigma...awesome!
Only track i don't like too much in the film is "Heartbeat" the closing song.

I like the soundtrack...especially when Will figures out Dollarhyde was watching the film.

I don't have a problem with the soundtrack except for the last song. It's just weak 80's cr@pola.

The music was great especially the raid scene. The last track was junk though, it really felt out of place.
