Considering all the parameters, this is probably the best sequel they could have made.
Some even prefer this one.

In my opinion, the original is leaps and bounds better than the rest. But I also enjoy this and Cobra Kai series.
My hangup is that I think Miyagi character is stronger left as more of a mystery. In the original, we get a few breadcrumbs and a small heartbreaking glimpse of his past. Although I understand why we focus on him in the sequel... I think the more info we learn about him, it ends up detracting from him.
