Tamlyn Tomita who played Kumiko was the only Japanese celebrity in The Karate Kid Part II who came from Japan while Pat Morita who played Mr. Miyagi, Danny Kamekona who played Sato and Yuji Okumoto who played Chozen were born in the USA and Nobu McCarthy who played Yukie was born in Canada.

And the part of Japan that Tamlyn Tomita comes from is Okinawa near Kagoshima which is also the part of Japan this movie was set in.
