Help me with my math: How did Ollie get in the game?

By the time of penultimate game, Hickory had 8 players (as shown in the final team photo). Yet in that game, one player is pulled for injury and the other fouls out. According to my math that totals 8 players - 2 out = 6 players left.

That would allow Hickory to still field 5 regular players on the court with Ollie (their weakest player) still on the bench. Instead, he is put in the game.

Later, when they show bench shots with Ollie in the game, there are only 2 players on the bench (while 3 players remain on the bench throughout the final game).

My questions are these:

Why was Ollie put in the game?

And since he was, what happened to the 8th player?

Maybe somebody can help me with my math on this. Thanks in advance.

After Rade fouls out, Whit goes in. Then Everett is punched in his injured shoulder, ripping out his stitches and drawing blood. The coach benches him, and Strap goes in. After Buddy fouls out, Ollie goes in, because he is the only player left.

Right after Everett sits down, we see the team doctor, who has been sitting at the end of the bench throughout the game, attending to Everett and checking his injury. After that, we don't see Everett or the doctor again. We can probably assume that the doctor took Everett somewhere for treatment.
