Token jew?

Would Woody Allen's character really be part of this affluent wealthy NY family. He's very funny, of course, but realistically speaking does his character belong?

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

Hannah was welcoming to all, even her ex-husband. Calling Allen's character a "token Jew" is harsh and off the mark.

For most of the film, I felt his character, though amusing, could have been removed from the film. He didn't interact much with the others, and he was maybe a tad too much of the early, goofy Allen character for the tone of the film overall (which was funny in parts, but in a more subdued or dry way). But then the way the film ended was perfect, so ultimately I had to drop that objection.
