Watched this within 24 hours of To Rome With Love.....

And it made me realize how much I hated To Rome with Love - which I thought at the time was okay.
I know Allen was probably going for different moods between these two movies, but one scene alone just blew me away.
When the 3 sisters are sitting at the restaurant table and Dianne West is saying how she wants to write and Hershey begins to cry ---- probably Allen's best dramatic scene from a directing and writing point of view.

I know they are different movies but there were such terrible lines in To Rome with Love and scenes that made no sense and clutter and then you watch this brilliance from 25 years ago and it just is sad a bit.

Woody has kind of lost his edge lately. I love this movie. A Woody Allen classic for sure!

Is it okay if I do it for mom and not you? 'Cause I really like mom.

He has mostly lost his edge lately, but Blue Jasmine was brilliant, and that was only three years...oh, wait, I just realized you wrote that comment in 2012! So you were right: as of 2012, the only really good movie Allen had made in the 21st century was Match Point (2005). So, fair enough--but did you end up agreeing that Blue Jasmine was a return to form?
