If this movie were to be released today.....

With all the hits Eddie has taken over the years with his choice of films, could you imagine if they decided to make a movie like this in 2009. It would have the most up to date special effects, of course, versus those cheesy 1980s kind.

Speaking of which, this was purely an 80s movie with the hottest star at the time. Without Eddie, this would have been a throw away B movie, in my humble opinion. Nevertheless, I loved as a child and still watch it on occasion and remember the days of the R rated Eddie Murphy before he converted to Disneyland....Hope he comes back soon....

The "up to date special effects" today are very cheesy compared to ones from the 80s and before (which could be cheesy at times) as at least they weren't cartoons for the most part but organic things (models and costumes et al). I hate all the pro-CGI propaganda these days, it has it's uses (it is the best for lasers and lightning for instance) but is very overused, mostly because it is cheap compared to anamatronics and good costuming, and less time consuming (for the most part) and cheaper than stop-motion.
