Just some random guy? Is it ever mentioned?

If I had to guess I'd say it was the parrot that called him.

Well, the tone of the call made it seem that he was disgusted about what they did with the girl though that doesn't come across that way when we see him later.
I'm guessing they just needed somebody to make the call and that actor was available.
