I love this movie
Well thought out plot.
Great Characters.
Funny.
Loved it.
Yes it was one of my fave movies while growing up.
shareMine too. We had it on VHS and it was regarded as a "modern day" classic. Both this and "Eddie Murphy: Raw", which we also had and played constantly.
"Got a cigarette Nels?"
It's a pretty fun movie. Hilarious dialogue, as usual with 80's Eddie Murphy.
The language is toned down compared to most of his other movies of that time, but it doesn't matter.
Fun movie, action, some laughs and good lines, with the added bonus of the delectable Charlotte Lewis in her most fetching role.🐭
shareIt is neatly paced and the characters are a joy to watch. It's a fun and fairly interesting comedy! On a side note, I simply love looking at all those LA locations.
You want something corny? You got it!
Yup I love it, my friends and I used to quote it in Jr High all the time right after we saw it. We probably said most of Eddie's quotes for about 2 to 3 years afterward.
shareTotally agree with you jimmyolsenblues
and everyone here too !
Of all the movies Eddie Murphy was in
this one was and still is my #1. top favorite .
Thanks jimmyolsenblues for your subject post .
I just finished The Golden Child (1986). It's one of the worst movies ever made, and it should not be seen by anyone.

Eddie Murphy was in his prime during this period & it shows with his top form perfomance. So many quotable lines. I loved the quirky 80s adventure/comedy/ fantasy combo. I really loved this as a kid and still do. An underrated gem definitely worth seeing.
shareI love this film too, as a child growing up... what got me irked was the blood in the rice pot scene.
I can't believe some people find this film at a low status. It's so much fun, gritty, and exciting...
My favorite line was, "I just want a chip" lol Plus, it took a decade or two realize that Ratt was playing on the tv in one of goon's house, which is pretty rad
This film is golden, pun intended!
