Im going to get hate for this but....

Jason Lives is my least favorite in the series. I mean I honestly find it boring to watch. Its very anti-climactic like I found myself wanting more. There wasn't even a decent chase scene between Jason and victim, that's like the staple of the Friday the 13th series, is a good intense chase sequence but the only thing this film gives us is the chase in the cemetery but that was between Tommy and those dumb cops. And what was the deal with the paintball? I think they should have taken out the paintball sequence entirely I found it really ridiculous. What was up with that guy being smashed into the tree and a freaking smiley face on the tree, like it was an impression of his face, I still don't understand that part to this day. They should have done away with the paintball and put in a good scene of Megan running from Jason, I mean she was the final girl and she only encounters Jason twice, once when he bursts through the wall and grabs her, and then she uses the propeller on him, and that's it. I think the final girl and Jason should have more screen time together than that I mean I just found this movie very disappointing. The movie was good until the end, and I was left with "Really that's it? It was getting good and then there's a short fight on the lake Jason is anchored to the bottom of the lake, YAWN like I wanted some chasing and some more action.

I see where you're coming from. You're points are valid. Just gonna throw in my two cents.

Jason Lives is by far my favorite. It's tone is different but I think, by this point in time, the series needed that. It had all gotten a little repetitive. There's a noticeable lack of chase but EVERY SINGLE OTHER MOVIE in the series had one. The movie is goofy and that's where a lot of people get put off. I don't mind because there's humor in the goofiness. After this, it get's pretty dumb but I don't think it's trying to be (I think Manhattan is the worst in the series)

It's really just a taste thing. I think this movie had the best cinematography, I loved the deaths (even if only 2 are really that gory), and I really do like the ending. Chaining Jason to the bottom of Crystal Lake and cutting into his neck with a propellor is (to me at least) one of the better ways he's been dispatched.

I agree I think this movie had great atmosphere, and great cinematography and the ending doesn't even bother me, I think that fight on the lake is great, I just wish there would have been a greater confrontation between the final girl and Jason, and that's why I feel that also Megan is one of the weaker final girls in the series because she only confronts Jason once and all she does is stand there and cry. I mean if Tommy hadn't have been there to beckon Jason into the lake, Jason would have killed her right there; she was defenseless. I liked her bad-ass side when she was running from the cops but she never faced Jason, and that's one of the things I love the most about the Friday series is the stalk/chase/fight sequences between Jason and the final girl. I enjoyed the film all the way up until the end and I just wish that Megan would have had a greater moment with Jason, I mean she was just seeing him for the first time. I guess I just have a thing with chase sequences, like one of the things I look for in a horror film, is a kick-ass chase/stalk sequence with the killer and the victim. But that's just me. Overall, a decent film, but it is still my least favorite to watch in the series.

that's fair. I guess I never really minded because I just kind of think of Tommy as the "final girl"

i originally disliked this film.. I had a instant prejudice against for any of the films after part 4..
However many years later and after watching "Crystal lake Memories" I revisited them all and have found a new appreciation for all of the films but this one in particular...
First I like the fact that it was Tommy Jarvis running up against Jason and the girl was just kind of along for the ride.. It was nice change of pace..
There were other little things that I liked about the film also cinematography being one of them.. Also this director had a better ear for music. I'm not talking about the classic Harry Manfredini score, thats always awesome but the additional rock/pop that was added in the films soundtrack, the music was better than the usual generic noise you get in a low budget F13 affair..
On a final note its gonna be tough for any low budget slasher film regardless of which franchise to hold up and stand the test of time just about 30 years later..Thats no small task all things($$$) considered...
I think the director actually did a decent job capturing the time and if you ever needed a example of what a 1980's slasher film with all its sterotypes was this movie says it all...well done.

No way, this movie is great! The jokes from the kids and the scene where jason gets the machete and pulls it up to reveal it still has the arm attached are only a couple examples showing how awesome it is.

I respect your opinion but I love Part 6. Theres more going on than just simply having Jason stalk and chase people, like drama. I didnt mind paintball sequence, its just adding some fun to the film while Jason is making his way to Crystal Lake..or Forrest Green..

What was up with that guy being smashed into the tree and a freaking smiley face on the tree, like it was an impression of his face, I still don't understand that part to this day.

So you never understood that the bolt of lightening that struck Jason's corpse gave him the ability to do the impossible?..Come one, you couldnt expect realism in this movie..

And this movie did have action:

-Cort drive speeds a trailer while blasting rock music with Jason inside killing his girlfriend.

-Megan protecting Tommy from the cops leading a road chase scene.

-Sheriff Garris beating up Jason.

-Tommy fights Jason on the boat/underneath the fiery lake.

I like that Tommy & Megan helped each other to stop Jason.

You're right. This movie really sucks. Bad humor, stupid plot and whats the most ironic: people like this horsesh!t over the fourth. And this supposedly to be better, get out of here. I admit that many horror and especially splatter/slasher movies come to camp (and many of them aren't even worth of that) over time but this movie was awful already when it came to the theaters. Making something tongue-in-cheek doesn't make it automatically good. In fact many times its just laziness and this is just it. Because imbecile fans didn't like FT13 movie without "real" Jason producers thought people were getting bored to old form and made this piece of sh!t with one condition: getting back the Jason. And they failed. End of story. Next parts just got even worse box office gross and for reason. And I'm pretty sure the reason is that they made it like this part; stupid no-plot splatter camp humor style.

I understand not liking it.Everyones entitled to their opinion. But choosing it as your least favorite?.Have you seen Jason takes Manhattan?.Because that movie makes this movie look like academy award material.

i don't understand the complaints about the plot. there is a dislike for this movie because the plot involves jason killing people as opposed to the other friday films where the plot involves...jason killing people?

Part 6 is the last good "Friday" film.

Have to agree with landont. I think this is one of the worst of the franchise. I was hoping by the end that everyone would die, even the kids.

Yes, me and the GF are watching the whole series for Halloween and we both agree six is by far the worst. Way too much camp, jokes, bad acting from the kids. They don't seem to take jason as the killer very seriously. And the lack of nudity is also quite strange. It literally takes away the one element that makes these movies great; people at their most vulnerable moment. The opening scene is pretty good, and I'm ok with lighting reviving Jason bit.

I just feel like, number 5 new what direction the franchise wanted to go in, but the audience wanted the supernatural Jason and that hurt some of the ideas going into this one.
