Why is Derek uncredited????

I was watching this movie on dvd and noticed the big kid who smokes, Derick, wasn't credited. He had speaking parts so I couldn't figure out why they would leave his name off the list. There was another character name, Publican, within the list of the other kid's names. But I couldn't find any kid named Publican in the movie. Could they have changed the name of the character from Publican to Derick after the fact and forgot to change it in the credits??? Maybe the book has a character named Publican. If anyone read the book and knows the kids names, let me know. Thanks
P.S. Great music! It really made the scenes scarier (when i was a kid).

'Publican' usually means owner/manager of a pub (bar) in Australia. So i doubt it would be one of the kids :-)

Strangely enough, i don't remember a publican in the film though. Typo maybe?

I'm not sure why he's not credited in the actual film, but Derek was played by Robin Mason, who is listed in the full cast here:

I agree with drjamesy though. There's no Publician character in the movie, at least not in the pub owner sense of the word. There doesn't seem to be anyone else that could fit either. Maybe he was in a deleted scene and somehow his credit remained in the final print of the film?

Anyway, since the end credits are listed in order of appearance, he is supposed to have shown up between the breakfast scene near the beginning and the scene when the rest of the children have arrived at school. The only new "character" in that segment whose face we see is Narelle's father, in a very brief shot sitting in his car. I sort of doubt that's the actor this credit belongs to.

So I guess not only does that not really answer the original question, but brings up a new one at the same time. Who played Narelle's father?!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one this bothered! It's worth noting that Robin Mason *is* listed in the opening credits, but not in the closing. Perhaps it's just a mistake?

As Sid and Tommy are running to the school at the beginning, they do mention something about a pub. So I'm guessing the publican was in a deleted scene, and he's credited either out of gratefulness for his work or for contractual reasons.

As for Narelle's father -- I'm guessing someone involved with the production (or one of their family members). He had no lines, and there's no need to hire an extra just for that scene.
