Around 1987 or 1988 (I was 9 or 10), there was a movie on TV that I wanted to see and my mom did not want to watch it. I ended up watching it anway and remember a teacher and her students swimming underground or in a cave. I also remember a scene where they are running and these people in masks are chasing them saying "run run!". Is this the movie that I am remembering? If so is it shown on tv anymore and are there VHS/DVDs available to rent? Thanks!

Wow, I have been wondering the exact same thing, and my story is the same--trying to figure what movie it was. The cave is the part I remember as well. Judging by this and other threads, it seems a lot of people saw this movie and remembered the content but not the title. I'd be curious to find out if there's some reason, or it it is completely random.
shareI have read on the previous posters that the DVD version has just come to market. And might be found as blockbuster to rent. Search amazon and ebay for retail versions. My mother let us watch this movie aas children I'd say I was 7 or 8. It had always stayed one of my favorites and was dissapointed when the tape was lost over 10 years ago. I am glad to see it is still circulating, I will definatly be searching a copy out for myself.

For any other Rachel Ward fans try also getting the Final Terror(Also on Netflix) Sadly though, reviwers are complaining about the poor quality picture and sound transfer. I should be getting them both in the next week. I'll try to post a response after viewing.
Weird, Same thing here. I saw it when I was about 7 or 8. All I could remember was a teacher and her students running from men in masks in a cave. It's one of those films I've thought about from time to time because it was so vivid and frightening (for a 7 year old at least), not to mention disturbing. So today I was thinking "what the hell is that film?", but I couldn't recall anyting that might help me find it.
Then I googled "father christmas mask" and found it. Funny, huh? That was the only line I could specifically recall from the movie. Probably because we call him Santa Clause in the US.
Is this the film where the students fight back against their hunters?

shareI asked a group of friends lat night if they remember a movie with the underground water cave and a duck mask and shotguns. One of my friends said it was Fortress. I was so happy to hear that and will pursue the DVD now. I too saw this when I was young on HBO and have periodically wondered what the heck I had been watching. ANother title I recently discovered the title to is "Staying Together". ANybody remember that one played on HBO in the 80's?

The new strangers movie brought me to this site. I rember seeing this on tv when I was a kid but can't rember much about it except a cave and masks. But the preview for The Strangers reminds me so much of the little bit I rember about this movie. Any one ele?

I have added it to my netflix Que and hope to get it soon. Funny I could only remember the mask and rachel being in it

shareYesterday finally I've got my DVD from amazon, I did watch it like the last time back in 1986 at night. What a grat movie. the bad guys with guns and masks, the teacher with her kids and running to scape. The scenes from the cave, the underwater, the barn, the school were as I remembered.
